History

INSTICC was created in February 2003. From 8 founding members, INSTICC had grown to more than 500 associated currently.

INSTICC has created a research network to develop R&D projects. The first project, initiated in 2004, was a collaborative effort with the Telecommunications Institute, in Lisbon, Portugal, in the area of Biomedical Engineering and Pattern Recognition. More R&D projects followed, in the scope of the Leonardo da Vinci programme and other initiatives.

Protocols with several academic organizations and research institutions from different countries were developed in order to foster collaboration activities, reflecting INSTICC's strong connection to the academic community. INSTICC strives to further strengthen this relation by supporting the mobility of distinguished researchers as well as students.
